The Vine and the Branches. There is no clear explanation for why the diminutive form is not used in 2 and 3 John.833. The verb propevmpw (propempw) is used a number of times in the New Testament in the sense of providing missionaries with supplies to enable them to continue their journey to the next stopping place (Acts 15:3, Rom 15:24, 1 Cor 16:6, 16:11, 2 Cor 1:16, and Titus 3:13).
